A simple way to improve our Notion aesthetics
I won’t lie.
I like simple.
Simple-looking products.
Simple systems.
Simple everything.
Not very long ago I came up with the idea of creating a transparent png icon and using it as an icon in my workspace.
I created it in Figma, but any web design tool (Canva for example) will also do.
It can’t get any simpler than that.
What’s cool about this is that it inadvertently unlocked some cool things I could do.
Even what I would consider as new features.
Let me show you.
Boxed text
By using the transparent icon on a callout and choosing the default background color (which is not on by default, lol), we get to have a cool looking squared shape where we can place whatever we want.
Database views
A list of pages
Or even decorate full blown dashboards
Template dividers
Within a database, if we create a template with a transparent icon and format its name correctly, we have a new feature.
Template dividers!
Super useful to group the different templates we may have.
you can see a glimpse of my recurring tasks here...
Even simpler pages
You can use the transparent icon as a page icon so the only decoration the page has is the cover or even nothing at all.
Do you have any idea about how to use transparent icons to make our workspaces simpler but prettier?
